A 19-year-old has been sentenced in connection with a mass shooting at a Glendale mall that left multiple people hurt, including several children.

Maricopa County Attorney Rachel Mitchell made the announcement Friday.

Mitchell said in a statement that Raul Franco will face eight years and 10 months in prison.

In March 2022, he shot at a group of people after a confrontation at the Tanger Outlets near the Westgate Entertainment District in Glendale. The group fired back, and the exchange left four people hospitalized. Three of them were children.

Mitchell said the youngest victim was a 4-year-old who is still suffering from injuries sustained that day.

Franco was 17 at the time, but was charged as an adult.

The county attorney says the sentencing stems from two cases: one made by county prosecutors and the other by the Arizona Attorney General’s Office.
