Audit: Globe Unified School District improperly monitored spending

The Globe Unified School District has three schools attended by roughly 1,500 students.
The audit spotlights non-instructional spending by Globe schools roughly two years ago. A key finding is the district spent more than authorized and did not have documentation to show the spending was valid.
State-required random drug and alcohol testing of bus drivers was not completed.
Student ridership and mileage are used to help decide state funding, but amounts reported by Globe schools were wrong.
This week, the school board chose an internal candidate as the new superintendent. She is an alumna of Globe High School. Neither her nor school board members replied to a request for comment.
