World Food Programme's Cindy McCain says plan to open more corridors to Gaza isn't enough
As the war in Gaza continues, Israeli military forces are facing condemnation over a recent Israeli drone strike which killed seven humanitarian aid workers from the World Central Kitchen.
Following that attack, the government of Israel announced it would open some more corridors to bring aid into Gaza.
During an appearance on CNN’s "State of the Union" on Sunday, World Food Programme Executive Director Cindy McCain says that move won’t be sufficient.
“We need more, though. This just isn’t enough and, as you know, we’re literally on the brink of going over the edge, over the cliff with famine and not being able to recover from it," she said.
McCain also highlighted the adversities of children who either die or do not receive sufficient nutrients as a result of war-induced famine.
In response to a question about Israeli ground troop withdrawals, she says she doesn't know what the implications would be for food distribution.
