Many Arizonans will be viewing Monday’s solar eclipse and experts are reminding viewers to take precautions to protect their vision, such as wearing special sunglasses.

“When you wear the glasses and you see the sun, you get a very crisp image of the sun, and of course, in astronomy, we do use different types of filters to observe different things about the sun, but for the purpose of an eclipse a white light solar filter is the best," said Hani Abdulle with the Arizona Science Center.

Abdulle also says people can use items with tiny holes like the center of a colander to see shapes being made on the ground. This is because the holes restrict the rays from the sun and cause a projection to be made, which is a safe way to view the event.
