Gov. Katie Hobbs has signed a bill that would make candidates for statewide office file quarterly campaign finance reports earlier than previously required.

Until now, state law has said that those who run for office need to file quarterly reports of contributions and expenses starting the year before they are up for election.

That means officeholders such as Hobbs, Attorney General Kris Mayes and Secretary of State Adrian Fontes would not have had to make disclosures until January 2026.

Now they will have to file quarterly reports starting in July.

Mayes and Fontes voluntarily filed these reports in January. Hobbs did not, but her campaign has been actively raising money.
