Gov. Katie Hobbs vetoed 13 bills on Tuesday, bringing her total to 42 so far this session.
One bill aimed to define male and female in state law, and would have removed any reference to the word “gender” in statutes.
It was dubbed the “Women’s Bill of Rights,” though opponents said the bill did not focus on things like reproductive health care, sex discrimination or violence.
Another bill would have allowed teachers to read or post copies of the Ten Commandments in their classrooms. Hobbs said the legislation gave her constitutional concerns and that it was unnecessary.
She also rejected a measure that would have made school board elections partisan.
Last year, Hobbs set a record after vetoing 143 bills.
