Earlier this week, Arizona Attorney General Kris Mayes announced that a receiver has been appointed for an assisted living facility in Mesa. 

Last month, Mayes asked the Maricopa County Superior Court to appoint a receiver to take control of Heritage Village.

In that lawsuit, she alleged elder abuse and consumer fraud by the former owners of the facility. The receiver, who took immediate control of the facility, will work at the direction of the court to protect residents and bring the facility into compliance with state regulations.

In a statement, Gary Langendowen, a senior director of Madison Realty Companies, which represents the Heritage Village management, called the appointment “an important step forward for Heritage Village and for our 150 residents and dedicated employees.”

The state will continue to litigate its case.
