An Arizona congressman is calling for the impeachment of the head of the Environmental Protection Agency.

Republican Rep. Paul Gosar, whose district covers western Arizona and rural areas outside Phoenix, said EPA Administrator Gina McCarthy is guilty of perjury because of her testimony on the so-called Water of the U.S Rule.

“She lied in front of Congress in regards to the dictation and the expansion of the Water of the U.S.," said Gosar.

Recently, a federal judge halted the controversial rule from taking effect in a host of states including Arizona.

Gosar argues McCarthy was also misleading in some of her comments about the science and how it pertains to the new rule. The EPA has said the rule is a clarification of the Clean Water Act’s jurisdiction over small waterways.

The agency has not yet commented on the Congressman’s call for impeachment.
