As you’re making weekend plans, you may have noticed that now, more than ever, it seems that there are an endless number of festivals for you to choose from around the Valley.

This weekend, for example you could go to Brazilian Day, Funk Fest II, the Rockin’ Taco Street Fest, and at least three more.

So why are there suddenly so many festivals, and what does it means for the Valley’s art and cultural scenes?

We spoke to Becky Bartkowski, the culture editor for Phoenix New Times. And she thinks we may be getting close to the point of festival oversaturation.
