Cliven Bundy

Five Arizonans could be facing jail time in connection with the 2014 standoff with federal law enforcement over the removal of Nevada rancher Cliven Bundy’s cows.

A grand jury recently indicted the Arizonans, along with more than a dozen other people from across the country, for their roles in the armed confrontation in Bunkerville, Nevada, led by rancher Cliven Bundy.

Three of those arrested are from the Valley, while the other two are from Humboldt and Cottonwood. The charges include conspiracy to commit an offense against the United States government and to impede or injure a federal officer.

It’s alleged the defendants planned, organized and led the assault in order to extort the officers into abandoning approximately 400 head of cattle. Many of the charges carry with them five, ten and even 20 years of jail time and substantial fines.
