Copa America Centenario third place match held in Glendale.

The U.S. Men’s National Soccer team lost to Colombia Saturday in the third place Copa America match at Glendale's University of Phoenix Stadium.

Though fans were disappointed, the 1-0 loss was still further than the U.S. men were expected to go in the Copa America tournament.

Hundreds of fans from Colombia and the U.S. made the trip to Glendale and poured into the Westgate complex before the game.

At one Westgate bar, the U.S.-supporting American Outlaws (AO) group hosted a pre-game party then marched en masse to the stadium.

 “Casual American fans don’t understand that a third place match in a tournament like this is still a very big deal. It would be the furthest we’ve ever made it in any tournament," AO Valley president Ryan Shirah said.

And during the game, local pro soccer team Arizona United held a viewing party at the Peoria Sports Complex.

Sean Wolcott and his wife were among the dozens who came. “When we found out about the watch party we’re like, hey this is great, we can sit and watch with other supporters and after it’s done we can go out to the stands and support AZ United,” Wolcott said.

Official attendance at the Copa game was 29,000, about half capacity of the stadium.
