FEMA Supplies Earmarked For Arizona May Go To Child Immigrants

A Democratic State Representative has gotten a look at the Border Patrol’s youth Detention Center in Nogales.

State Rep. Rosanna Gabaldon said the warehouse has swamp cooling and federal officials were bringing in port-a-potties to accommodate the child immigrants being brought in from Texas. But she said the facility was clean and the children were being fed.

Now she says federal officials are asking the state to use FEMA supplies that are slated for Arizona to help out.

“Border Patrol and the feds were asking the state of Arizona if they could use those supplies and you know, and of course, they will, they will replace it,” Gabaldon said.

Gabaldon said while the feds have brought hundreds of undocumented immigrant youth to the Nogales detention center, the state of Arizona has a moral responsibility to any child who enters the state, no matter how they got here.
