A Phoenix woman bas been sentenced to two years
in prison and may pay up to $5 million in restitution for her part in a fake coupon ring. In March,
41-year-old Robin Ramirez pleaded guilty to counterfeiting.Maricopa County
prosecutors said Ramirez was also sentenced to seven years of probation. A judge
will determine exactly how much she will have to pay in restitution later.
Ramirez and two other women were
arrested last July after an eight-week investigation by Phoenix police. More than $25 million worth of fake coupons and $2 million in other assets were seized from the
women’s Valley homes.
The counterfeit manufacturer
coupons were allegedly bought overseas and sold online.
