The legal fight involving students who fall into the category of Deferred Action for Childhood Arrival, or DACA, is continuing in Arizona.

The Maricopa Community Colleges, the state’s public universities and other community college systems have decided that DACA students are eligible for in-state tuition.

But Proposition 300, passed by voters in 2006, said that undocumented immigrants shouldn’t receive in-state tuition.

This week, a three-judge panel of the Arizona Court of Appeals heard arguments from the Attorney General’s Office and an attorney for the Maricopa Community Colleges.

For more background on the case and what led to it, we’re joined by Anne Ryman, who covers higher education for The Arizona Republic and azcentral.com.
