Phoenix International Raceway on Monday announced details of planned upgrades to the Avondale racetrack.

Phoenix Raceway is owned by the International Speedway Corporation, which will pump $178 million announced last year into modernizing the race track over the next year and a half.

One major change will shift the start and finish line to the second turn. The company also plans to build out a new grandstand with escalators and elevators, and upgrade the existing seats to include Wi-Fi access.

And there will be more shaded areas, along with a redesigned infield.

The new raceway is slated to be complete by the fall of 2018.
