Phoenix To Open Recovery Information Centers
The City of Phoenix will open two recovery information centers Thursday to help residents affected by Monday’s record-setting rainfall and damaging floods.
People will be able to report damage to their property and learn what help is available from the city and from charitable organizations. And residents affected by rain and flooding last month in South Phoenix will be able to apply for disaster recovery loans from the federal Small Business Administration.
The SBA’s Garth MacDonald says his agency is looking at issuing a disaster declaration for areas affected by Monday’s rain.
“The individuals that were impacted [Monday] for the first time, they should report their damage. The recovery information centers will be collecting that information, and we’ll work closely with the Department of Emergency Management to look at assistance for those that were just impacted.”
Officials say an early estimate of damage to city property and infrastructure came in at a million dollars, but that number could double.
