A federal judge may have decided not to disband the police agency shared by two polygamous communities on the Arizona-Utah border, but most of the Colorado City Marshal’s Office is still in hot water.

Six officers face discipline, including potential decertification. They’re accused of a variety of charges such as biased policing, failure to complete reports in a timely manner and giving false testimony to investigators.

The officers, which include the agency’s chief, have all requested administrative hearings. But they have not yet been scheduled, said Jack Lane, executive director of the Arizona Peace Officer Standards and Training Board, which oversees all Arizona law enforcement.

“We’re in the hands of the courts at this point,” Lane said. “So we’re waiting for the courts to give us dates.”

The judge’s order will have no impact on the board’s process going forward, Lane said.
