Arizona Attorney General Mark Brnovich wants to use federal funds to investigate and prosecute in-home Medicaid and neglect cases involving seniors.

Brnovich is one 36 state attorneys generals who want to change the status quo.

Brnovich signed the bipartisan letter calling for expanded Medicaid fraud authority. He said 1-in-10 persons age 65 and older who live at home will be a victim of abuse.

Currently, Medicaid Fraud Units investigate and prosecute cases of fraud and resident abuse.

The letter recommends using federal money to investigate and prosecute abuse and neglect of Medicaid beneficiaries in non-institutional, or home, settings. And to allow the funds to be used to review complaints or reports of any type, in any setting.

The letter was sent to Department of Health and Human Services Secretary Tom Price.
