Pinal Fire south of Globe.

People with respiratory issues should stay clear of the Globe-Miami area Wednesday. Gila county and state coordinators are monitoring the area as the Pinal Fire continues to burn.

Those living near the area are warned to stay inside and keep windows and doors closed to avoid smoke exposure.

Wednesday marks the 16th day since the lightning caused fire began on May 8.  As of Tuesday evening, it had burned 3,582 acres and was 2 percent contained.

Wildland managers are allowing the blaze to slowly burn out unhealthy forest undergrowth in the Tonto National Forest region six miles south of Globe.
