President Donald Trump announced today the U.S. will immediately stop implementation of the Paris climate-change agreement.

Leaders across the globe are reacting to the decision, including Phoenix Mayor Greg Stanton.

Stanton condemns the decision, saying Arizona is one place highly affected by climate-change effects like higher temperatures, drought and more wild fires.

“America has to be a leader on this issue, so if President Trump is going to abdicate leadership, mayors like myself and [others] throughout the country are going to step in and fill the void” he said.

The U.S. had agreed under the previous administration to reduce emissions by about 1.6 billion tons by 2025.
