A large solar farm is becoming a reality next to the Apache Generating Station near Willcox, according to the Arizona Daily Star.

Rural power provider Arizona G & T Cooperatives is building the solar plant to generate 20 megawatts of electricity for member co-ops in Pima, Pinal and Santa Cruz counties.

The plant, called Apache Solar, is estimated to eventually have 77,000 solar panels and is expected to go online in September.
