President Donald Trump will be in Phoenix  to hold a rally Tuesday evening at the Phoenix Convention Center. Since Trump took office, he’s been holding campaign-style events across the country — but this will be his first rally in the West since his inauguration.

Both supporters and the curious lined up more than nine hours before President Trump was scheduled to speak in downtown Phoenix. Since Trump took office, he’s been holding campaign-style events across the country — but this will be his first rally in the West since his inauguration.

Dozens of people clustered together in the shade outside the Phoenix Convention Center.

Peter Tavary, 15, took the day off of school at Cave Creek’s Cactus Shadows High School to come see the president speak. He stood out in a sea of t-shirts and tank tops.

“I’m wearing a navy suit with a red tie, white pocket square and some Cole Haan loafers," Tavary said. "Yeah, I like to wear this out in public, not in school, but I like to dress up for adults.”

Tavary said said he’s not particularly political. He said at the very least, it’s a story to tell at the dinner table.

“It’s going to be an experience that I can share with my kids in the future, and I’m really excited, he said.

Irma Trujillo came from El Paso, Texas, and carried a hot-pink sign with the words "Deplorable Latinas Heart Trump."

“I just want him to know that we back him up 100 percent and anyone that’s against him is against his voters," said Trujillo.

Trujillo said she supports Trump’s stance on health care and border security.

“What is it we don’t love. He is our voice. He listens. He cares about us," she said.

She’s already planning to vote for Trump again in 2020.
