Sage Memorial Hospital in Ganado, Arizona on the Navajo Nation has agreed to a $200 million settlement with the Indian Health Service.

The settlement ends an ongoing lawsuit in which hospital administrators alleged the IHS illegally terminated a contract with the hospital, costing the facility half of its funding. The settlement includes a new three-year contract as well as damages.

Christi El-Meligi is the administrator for Sage Memorial Hospital and joins us on The Show to talk about it.

We reached out to the Indian Health Service to get their perspective on the settlement, and received the following statement: "IHS has settled this matter and is looking forward to continuing to work with Navajo Sage Hospital to provide access to health care for American Indian and Alaska Native patients."

EDITOR'S NOTE: This story has been updated to include a statement from IHS.
