Arizona Diamondbacks Run Comes To End

The Arizona Diamondbacks season is now over. The Dodgers completed the three game sweep in the National League Division Series with a 3-1 victory at Chase Field last night.

Ironically, it was a Scottsdale native who finished off the Diamondbacks as Dodgers rookie of the year favorite Cody Bellinger hit his first career postseason homer off Zack Greinke and made key defensive stops, including a tumbling catch into his own dugout.

Not the way Torey Luvullo wanted to see his rookie season as manager end, even against the team with the best record in the majors.

"My congratulations to that organization, but we didn’t play our type of baseball for the past three games and I think everyone that follows us noticed that,” Luvullo said.

A bittersweet finish for Diamondbacks first baseman and team MVP Paul Goldschmidt.

“A lot of guys had great years individually and even as a team it was a pretty good year, not the way we wanted to finish with a loss, but only team gets to win it,” Goldschmidt said.

Despite the disappointing ending, Arizona went from 93 losses in 2016 to 93 wins this season.
