For many, caregiving is a fulltime job, which means a person has to find someone to watch their loved one if they leave the house. So when Duet, a Phoenix-area nonprofit hosted its annual family caregiver symposium on Thursday, they had to make sure caregivers could actually attend. 

Virginia Rascon takes care of her aunt, Delfina Hicks, who has Alzheimer’s disease. It was her first time attending the symposium. And she was able to come because Duet provided respite care.

"Because then I wouldn’t have to worry about … or I wouldn’t have been able to come," said Rascon.

For Rascon, an event like this is important to the work she does at home.

"I try to keep educating myself so I can provide better care for my aunt," she said.

Hicks and others spent the afternoon playing games, coloring and watching movies.  Duet partnered with Beatitudes at Home, which is part of Beatitudes Campus to provide the free service.
