Phoenix Is Contender For New Apple Campus
Technology giant Apple may be eyeing Phoenix as a strong contender for a new campus.
The company recently announced plans for a new United States facility, which houses technical support for customers.
Michael Denning is a professor at the W.P. Carey School of Business at Arizona State University. He believes Phoenix fits the bill for Apple’s new project.
"From a call center point of view, we already have a center of excellence here in a sense that we have an awful lot of call centers that are locally cited here, and as a result there are lots of people to draw from that already have experience in that genre," he said.
Denning speculates the Phoenix area has become a call center hub because stable weather makes for more reliable phone lines.
Mesa is already home to a 1.3 million square foot Apple data center.
