President Donald Trump gives his first State of the Union address before Congress on Tuesday night.

The history of those addresses includes a few noteworthy moments in time, but they often feature so-called laundry lists of items that include achievements a president may claim or things he wants to accomplish over the next year.

With another potential government shutdown looming and controversy often accompanying his comments and tweets, President Trump will step to the podium.
