Customs and Border Protection says it will soon start work on a series of remediation projects on some parts of the border wall built by the Trump administration in Arizona. 

Last December, the Department of Homeland Security announced it would begin planning remediation projects along parts of the border where wall construction had caused significant safety or environmental concerns.  

Customs and Border Protection opened up a public comment period for Tucson Sector projects early this year. Now the agency says it’s compiled that input and cemented plans. On a public conference call Monday, officials said projects would include erosion and sediment control, stabilizing slopes with loose dirt and cleaning up wall materials left behind by contractors.

The agency also said it would also be closing 25 gaps of up to 100ft wide in the border wall. The first contracts are expected to be issued by this spring.
