The push to reform the use of photo radar in traffic citations is over — for now. The last of three photo radar bills considered this year in the Arizona legislature died Tuesday.

This bill would have prevented driver’s license suspensions because of a missed photo radar court date. It was designed to ensure that someone who hasn't been served with a ticket can't lose their license. The bill failed on a 2-3 vote in the Senate transportation committee after already passing the house.

It’s become an annual tradition here in Arizona to try to limit or repeal photo radar. Last month, the full Senate rejected an outright ban on the practice and a House committee voted against a bill requiring police officers to review every photo radar ticket.
