Sinema Blasts Military Funds Used For Border Buildup
Arizona’s Democratic senator criticized the Trump administration for taking Pentagon funding away to pay for new border fence projects along the southwest boundary.
Sen. Kyrsten Sinema’s denouncement of the border fence funding plan came a week after the plan was first announced.
Sinema focused most of her statement on the $30 million taken away from an infrastructure project on Fort Huachuca.
Republican Sen. Martha McSally had noticed the Fort Huachuca cut the day specific plans were announced but said that building project was already delayed and would only halt for a year.
Meanwhile, the funding is already being used to replace vehicle barrier along parts of the Border Patrol’s Yuma Sector abutting the Colorado River.
