All charges have been dropped against a former Navajo Nation lawmaker accused of funneling thousands of dollars to her family. It's part of a deal that includes Lena Manheimer helping prosecutors with cases against her former colleagues.

They’re accused of mishandling money meant for Navajos in need. Manheimer pleaded no contest to conspiracy to commit bribery related to misuse of tribal funds. It’s not an admission of guilt but an acknowledgement that prosecutors had enough evidence to obtain a conviction.

Instead of standing trial, she’ll serve probation and community service, as long as she cooperates with prosecutors in the other cases.

Johnny Naize, a former speaker of the Navajo Nation Council, pleaded guilty to related charges last year after resigning.
