Law Professor Rodney K. Smith Discusses Legal Challenges In Pro Sports

Ray Rice’s arrest for domestic violence received some of the biggest headlines, but arrests of professional athletes aren’t necessarily rare.

A couple of Atlanta Hawks players ran into a law enforcement problem earlier this month and one of them suffered a season-ending injury.

As of yesterday, the Phoenix Suns are now dealing with serious allegations against two of their more prominent players. Twin brothers Marcus and Markieff Morris have been indicted on felony aggravated assault charges for a Jan. 24 incident.

We talked about the legal challenges for pro athletes and sports organizations with Rodney K. Smith, professor of practice at ASU’s O’Connor College of Law. He’s director of the college’s sports law and business program.
