Some Arizona Leaders Want To Make College A Debt-Free Experience

In the world of higher education, Friday was known as National College Decision Day. Current trends indicate that no matter where you - or your son or daughter — may end up going, it will probably be pretty expensive.

A couple of Democratic members of Arizona’s congressional delegation are pushing for the United States to adopt policies to make attending college a debt-free experience. If successful, the effort would lower tuition while increasing financial aid.

Rep. Ruben Gallego told us why he thinks it’s important.

We also spoke with Derrick Anderson, an assistant professor in Arizona State University’s School of Public Affairs. He talked about the impact loan rate changes could have on for-profit colleges and universities.
