Candidates running against Arpaio are in full campaign mode

April 20, 2012

From the KJZZ newsroom, I’m Devin Browne. Two of the four candidates for Sheriff in Maricopa County campaigned Thursday night at an event sponsored by the Phoenix Quaker Meeting House and the Catholic Apostolic Church of Jerusalem. Scottsdale Police Lt. Mike Stauffer has been campaigning the longest against the incumbent Sheriff Joe Arpaio, and is running as an Independent. John Rowan also spoke Thursday -- he will first face fellow Democratic candidate Paul Penzone in a primary election in August. Organizers say Penzone declined invitations to participate in the event.
