The University of Arizona's longtime baseball coach has announced his retirement. Andy Lopez led the Wildcats to a national championship in 2012.

The three-time national coach of the year spent 14 seasons in Tucson. Lopez garnered 487 victories at U of A and had 58 Wildcat players selected by major league teams.

The 2012 season was marked by an undefeated postseason record and the national title. Lopez coached his two sons on that squad.

He also oversaw the club's move from an on-campus facility to Hi Corbett Field, a former major league spring training park.

Lopez retires as 29th among all Division One coaches in career wins with 1,174 victories.
