The Hopi tribe has not given up in its attempts to halt the sale of sacred ceremonial items.

The chairman of the Hopi Council, governor of the Pueblo of Acoma and the Holocaust Art Restitution Project are jointly announced they have brought another action before the French Board of Auction Sales.

They are requesting the suspension of a June 10 auction of sacred Hopi and Acoma objects. Hopi officials are calling for the help of local, state  and federal agencies in recovering the artifacts called “Katsina Friends,” which they consider to being living sprits.
