Arizona Senators Join White House Coronavirus Task Force
Arizona’s two U.S. senators will serve on a congressional task force designed to advise President Trump on reopening the U.S. economy.
Trump invited a bipartisan selection of senators and congressman to serve on the task force, the latest in a series of task forces formed by the Trump administration during the coronavirus pandemic.
Democratic Sen. Kyrsten Sinema and Republican Sen. Martha McSally announced this morning they’ve accepted the president’s invitation.
“I will work with anyone to support Arizona’s state and local leaders, ensure our communities adhere to scientific best practices to address our current health emergency, and provide employers the resources to quickly recover and get Americans back to work once the immediate crisis has passed,” Sinema said in a statement.
"The coronavirus pandemic has given way to unprecedented challenges unlike any we have seen in our nation’s history. Americans have been asked to stay home and not work in order to save lives and that gravely impacted the livelihoods of so many,” McSally said in a statement. “But I am confident America and Arizona will recover from this extraordinary time stronger than ever.”
Congressman Andy Biggs, an East Valley Republican, was also invited to join the task force, according to Politico.
