It's been said that the COVID-19 virus does not discriminate. Anyone can get it — Prince Charles and Tom Hanks included. However, this pandemic is highlighting the inequities that already existed for marginalized and underserved communities.

Many communities — where data is available — are seeing higher rates of infections and deaths among Latinx, black and indigenous people. What’s behind the disturbing trend? And what’s being done to address it?

The Show spoke with ASU’s Mako Fitts Ward, Clinical Assistant Professor and Faculty Lead of African and African American Studies, and Jessica Solyom, Assistant Research Professor and Associate Director of the Center for Gender Equity in Science and Technology.
