Doctors Without Borders Physician: Logistical, Cultural Challenges Posed In Dealing with COVID-19

The COVID-19 pandemic has brought Doctors Without Borders to countries it never thought it’d be working in — including the United States.

Since April, a team from the international organization has been on the Navajo Nation, helping the area with the highest per capita infection rate in the country. The plan is for them to be there through at least the end of June.

Dr. Carolina Batista is one of the physicians on the ground there, and she’s also a member of the group’s international board. The Show spoke with her about how the organization ended up on the Navajo Nation.
