The National Weather Service is issuing an excessive heat warning for the Phoenix area over the Labor Day weekend.

Friday, the Valley saw another day of record-breaking heat after hitting 114 degrees. There have been 51 days with temperatures above 110 degrees this summer.

Fortunately, meteorologist Chris Kuhlman says there may be some relief later this week, thanks to a low pressure system.

"On Tuesday we have a high of 106 in the forecast, and I think the full course of the cooling will be here Wednesday when we’ll actually drop back into the mid to upper 90s for a couple days," Kuhlman said.

It won’t be much cooler in northern Arizona, either. The bottom of the Grand Canyon may reach 112 degrees, while Flagstaff is seeing temperatures in the 90s.
