Arizona is part of a multistate settlement with Apple over allegations that the tech giant intentionally slowed down performance on its iPhones.

Attorney General Mark Brnovich announced Wednesday that Arizona is one of more than 30 states receiving a combined $113 million. Arizona’s share of the settlement will be more than $5 million.

A multistate investigation alleged that Apple discovered that battery issues were leading to unexpected shutdowns in iPhones. When Apple discovered the issue, the attorneys general say the company concealed it.

A subsequent software update from Apple in 2016 reduced iPhone performance to keep the phones from unexpectedly shutting down, a technique known as “throttling.”

The attorneys general allege Apple then profited from consumers who bought new phones in response to the throttling.
