Arizona Gov. Doug Ducey has lifted one of the pandemic safety precautions that limited the number of people in businesses. Although it’s not a commercial business, Chandler is allowing more people into its libraries

Andy Bass, director of community services, says Chandler libraries will continue to follow the precautions such as wearing masks, having plexiglass barriers and cleaning.

Bass also says people need the services offered. When schools first went virtual the libraries saw how important it was to access WiFi for school. He also adds sometimes people just need to take a break or to read a book.

Before the capacity lift, Chandler Public Libraries were at a 25% capacity.

Other Valley cities are taking more of a wait-and-see approach.

Glendale libraries have placed the most wanted items at the front and residents can request other items for pick up. Phoenix libraries are still operating with curbside services and will be discussing a return schedule.
