Even through the pandemic, shopping has provided high funds for the state. And it's not all online shopping.

Despite pandemic woes, Arizona Chamber of Commerce President and CEO Danny Seiden says sales tax revenue is robust.

While the additional money is a good sign, there are concerns about how the pandemic will shape spending, especially with the omicron COVID-19 variant.

While the pandemic has shown trends in shoppers buying online, Seiden says there is more to the story.

“There’s been a lot of a move to online over the years in general. But coming out of the pandemic there seems to have been a little bit of a return to shopping, and that’s why we’re seeing a bit of an extra bump in growth as well," Seiden said.

He added that unemployment in the state, which is currently 4.7%, is the lowest since before the 2008 Great Recession.
