After just a few days of deciding to resume water shut-offs, the city of Phoenix has chosen to hold off after all.

The city chose to postpone a plan to resume water shut-offs that were supposed to start again next month for past due accounts.

Phoenix cited a rise in COVID-19 cases for its decision.

Instead, the city will continue providing low-flow service, meaning reduced water pressure, for customers not participating in their other financial assistance programs.

The City Council voted to permanently stop charging late fees for single-family residential customers if they have been placed on low flow or have their water shut off.
