University of Arizona will lift mask requirements in most places

The University of Arizona will be lifting its indoor mask requirements next Monday in most places.

The university is following the CDC’s guidance for communities with low and medium levels of COVID transmission.

Masks will still be required on the university’s Cat Tran shuttle service and in health-care settings.

“As these changes go into place, I want to again emphasize the vital importance of compassion for one another. Especially for those who are most vulnerable to this still deadly virus," UA President Robert Robbins said.

Robbins added that masks will still be available free of charge in most buildings. He also said if a new variant were to create another spike in cases, mask rules would be reinstated.
