The Arizona Department of Health Services is providing information on its website about baby formula alternatives in light of a national shortage.

The department released a new resource for families navigating the formula shortage.

It advises parents to never make homemade baby formula and instead use breast milk or another similar brand of formula as alternatives.

It also says that a company behind a formula recall is working to address health concerns and may reopen one of its facilities this month. But it would still take six to eight weeks before formula products are on store shelves.
