Individuals with intellectual or developmental disabilities are among some of the most vulnerable to the long-term effects of COVID-19. Now one organization is looking for volunteers to participate in a survey about their experiences during the pandemic.  

Jon Meyers is the executive director of the Arizona Developmental Disabilities Planning Council. 

"We want to reassess," he said. "We want to get a better sense now of where families are where parents and guardians are in their willingness to get the people they're responsible for vaccinated. We want to understand the level of trust in the vaccines. And we really want to understand how people's attitudes toward COVID have evolved over the course of the pandemic."

He also says they also want to know what families fear or what their hesitations are when it comes to the vaccines. 

"And again, how we as advocates and and service organizations can provide the best care and the best opportunities for them to be safe," he said. 

Meyers says people with epilepsy and Down syndrome experienced some of the highest mortality rates throughout the pandemic.
