The Bipartisan Infrastructure Law and Inflation Reduction Act each included funding for improvements to water infrastructure.

Members of the Biden administration are touring Western states to talk about the latest upgrades.

The Bureau of Reclamation will receive more than half a billion dollars to improve water delivery and storage in 11 states during fiscal year 2023.

Arizona will get more than $27 million for work along the Colorado River.

Deputy Secretary of Interior Tommy Beaudreau said that the West remains troubled by a 23-year drought, in spite of recent rains and a good snowpack.

"Prolonged drought crisis is driven by the effects of climate change, including extreme heat and years of low precipitation. In turn severe drought conditions exacerbate wildfire risks, impact crop yields, and disrupt entire ecosystems," Beaudreau said.

The Arizona projects include work on roads, pipes and levees along the Colorado River.
