Elder abuse awareness and prevention events happening in Arizona

Elder abuse can take on many forms, from financial exploitation to physical and emotional neglect. That means knowing how to spot it can be life saving.

Now, couple of events are aimed at fighting this type of harm.

On Saturday, Tempe Mayor Corey Woods is hosting the city’s second annual World Elder Abuse Awareness Day at Friendship Village, a senior community.

The mayor will facilitate conversations with state and community leaders about how this kind of abuse can be prevented.

Then, on June 15, the Department of Economic Security will host its World Elder Abuse Awareness Day Conference. That event will feature speakers from the Arizona Attorney General’s Office, tribal communities and other agencies. E
