Friday, the U.S. Department of Justice unsealed a 37-felony count indictment against former President Donald Trump.

Charges of mishandling of classified documents, obstructing justice and making false statements by Trump were enumerated by DOJ Special Counsel Jack Smith.

Arizona-based political consultant Mike O’Neil indicated Trump’s refusal to cooperate with the DOJ, and his assertions that he unilaterally possessed the right to declassify documents, forced the Justice Department’s hand.

“You’re just saying, in effect, ‘I dare you to stop me. I did it because I can do anything I want.’ And, I think, it’s very difficult for the Justice Dept. to sit still for that,” he said.

O’Neil also predicted the indictment would not reduce support for Trump’s base within the Republican Party.
